Sorauren Rink despite the un-winter!

The mighty crew of volunteers has been successful in getting the rink going again this winter when the temperature cooperates. The rink is open from 7 am to 9 pm every day (when frozen), with flooding at 9 pm each night (when freezing). Please stay off the rink if it’s mushy as that helps to bring it back to life again for more hours of skating and shinny pleasure.

The Sorauren natural ice rink is done for another year. Thanks to the volunteer crews who flooded every night, the volunteers who ran the chili and hot chocolate stand, and our City partners who provided the light and other support. See you next year!

The rink rocks

All the stars aligned to get the natural-ice rink rocking in January 2009. Consistently cold weather; a spirited, volunteer rink-flooding crew shepherded by the irrepressible Douglas Shepherd; and the backing of equally committed Parks, Forestry and Recreation staff have made for a great season.
