Sorauren Park Town Square
Help turn this...
Into this...
Town Square Vision Plan by Alex Mut, City of Toronto, Parks, Forestry & Recreation
The new Town Square in Sorauren Park will bring the derelict space between the Fieldhouse and the old linseed factory back to life for community use. Help tear down the fence to expand the park!
The Town Square will be home for an expanded Farmers’ Market, for festivals and concerts, for picnics and gatherings, exhibitions and performances. It will feature a new community bake oven and community sinks for events. It will include a stage area for performing art. New benches, picnic tables, gardens, trees and landscaping will make it a true gathering place for the community.
Construction is planned for 2013.
FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN:
You can help build the Town Square. Purchase a Paver as a great gift for loved ones.
All donations over $10 receive a tax deductible charitable receipt. For donations over $100, your designated name will be recognized on the virtual Donor Wall and on a permanent donor wall to be erected at the Square.
The new community “Purchase A Paver” campaign is based on the successful Fieldhouse “Buy A Brick” campaign supported by generous families, individuals, businesses, foundations, politicians and many organizations.
You can donate online through our partnership with the Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation. Or click here to download the donation form to pay by cheque.
Our Purchase A Paver fundraising goal is $40,000, but the total costs of the square are estimated at more than $400,000. While the property is owned by the City, and Parks, Forestry and Recreation will be part of the capital plan, the non-profit Wabash Building Society has committed to raise most of the funds needed.
The WBS fundraising campaign will also target foundations, corporations, businesses and other sources. If you represent an organization that would like to contribute (for example, funding the pizza/bake oven or bike racks, etc.), please contact us directly.
